Desperate Housewives: The Complete Collection Deluxe Edition

DESPERATELY FANTASTIC
One of my favorite TV shows ever, in a wonderful boxed set!

When I saw that "Desperate Housewives" was coming in a boxed set format, I immediately sold my 7 individual sets on Eb@y and pre-ordered this set. I am SO glad I did.

The box is not wood, as many people on message boards have been asking. However, it is a very sturdy, thick, pressed cardboard (one of the sturdiest box sets I've seen) covered with a beautiful glossy finish. Inside you will find the individual season sets in the dreaded thin slip cases. I know many people complain about these, but really, I have never had any discs that came in this type of holder to be permanently damaged. I have had some surface scuffs in the past, but nothing that ever affected the playback. The individual seasons are the same as the previous releases, with all the same features, just in these slip cases. The artwork on these slip cases are not of the previous releases...these match each other...but the artwork on the...

Not pleased
Is anyone else having a horrible experience with the packaging. The bottom disc on every sleeve of my set has come dislodged and the cardboard sleeve detached resulting in every other disc smashed up against the glue that was supposed to hold the sleeve together. Every other disc in the entire set has sticky glue on the back of the disc. I guess I can clean them? Never had to clean glue off of a DVD before...certainly not a brand new $100 set. I actually had to peel some discs off of the sleeve. Displeased.

Great show- awful packaging...and isn't the packaging the whole point of a Complete Collection???

Box set was beautiful, but the sleeves left gummy residue on the disks , eucalyptus oil and a wash with detergent, and a new disk sleeve for each disk, and they look fine, I just hope all disks work...

Desperate Housewives: The Complete Eighth and Final Season

The Final Act: Kiss Them Goodbye
(Spoiler Alert)

On October 3, 2004, one of America's favorite TV series, "Desperate Housewives", was well received from viewers and critics alike, attracting over thirty million viewers in the first season's finale.

And now, eight years later, the soapy, sexy, fan-favorite show in the fictional town of Fairview is saying its final goodbyes. To mark the end of an era, a lump-in-the-throat final episode, "Finishing the Hat", was broadcast on May 13, 2012 to a bittersweet farewell. Whether or not you watched every episode from start to finish, a feeling of sadness will be felt, especially from the diehard fans who watched religiously every Sunday night to see what would happen to those zany housewives on Wisteria Lane: Teri Hatcher (Susan Mayer), Felicity Huffman (Lynette Scavo), Marcia Cross (Bree Van De Camp), and Eva Longoria (Gabrielle Solis).

But the final season is not without a few loose ends--and sloppy storylines. Although entertaining, some...

Series Finale: May 13, 2012

Ah "Desperate Housewives". The time has finally come to an end. Now what I am going to do on Sunday nights? This show has managed to keep me entertained now for eight seasons with enough twist, turns, and drama to make me dizzy.

I enjoyed this season. I feel that the series "went out" while it still had a good, solid fan base. Even though this was the last season it was NOT short on Mystery, humor, and the ever present drama that we all love. The finale showed exactly what I wanted to see, which was how the writers were going to conclude the story-lines of the four main characters: Susan, Lynette, Bree and Gaby and I was not disappointed.

As much as I enjoyed this show, all good things must come to an end sadly, this was "Desperate Housewives" time. Wisteria Lane will live on now through DVD'S.

Wonderful, Wonderful
When ABC and creator/executive producer Marc Cherry announced during the summer of 2011 that the upcoming eighth season of "Desperate Housewives" would be its last, it probably came as little surprise for a series that was showing its age quite a bit. When it premiered in the fall of 2004, "Housewives," along with its fellow freshman series "Lost" were the breakout hits of the 2004-2005 television season and gave new ratings vitality to the ABC network. Since then, "Desperate Housewives" had lost favor with critics following its well-publicized and messy sophomore slump. Viewers also gradually declined each season after the first year as the Sunday night landscape became crowded by the likes of "Sunday Night Football," "Family Guy," "The Walking Dead," and "Dexter," and TV viewership as a whole dropped with the rise of DVRs and online viewing.
