Get it All!
Steven Wilson is showing the most of his experimental side on his solo project. I got the impression that he can display his freedom more on this than with Porcupine Tree and Blackfield. By adding a lot more variety of keyboards sounds (mellotron, piano), sax and flute, we get more intriguing sounds that enchanted the music to something new and original. The 2 hours of music on this DVD is a journey through the mind of a genius that make you experience a wide range of atmosphere from the quiet part of a piano, the delicate vocals harmonies and the agression of a guitar exploding suddenly. Sometimes we are hearing the melancholic music of Blakfield, a lot of times, the heavy prog of Porcupine Tree, also, the mellotron, the sax and the flute take you back to the first King Crimson's era.
The concert start slowly with some strange visual effects that are created with a curtain on the stage, that made the concert look like a old footage. The curtain is remove during the...
Musicianship at it's finest!
My family and I had the pleasure to witness the April 9th show in Dallas, TX (4 days prior to the filming of this production)... hands down one of the BEST live music experiences of my life. In this age of gargantuan, 1,000 megawatt, flashy stage productions, Steven and his band manage to overpower all the visual eye-candy with pure talent and emotion. Excellent production from film-maker and photographer, Lasse Hoile, the beautiful quality of this high-definition blu-ray made me feel like I was there again... simply amazing!
I got more than I deserve with this one!!
WOW, this was like being right in the audience, at the concert.
I saw a you-tube track of one of the songs & immediately thought, I must have this Blu-Ray!
After the usual ritual of removing the shrink wrap, and inserting the disk, and hitting the play button on my BR player, I was THERE for 2 hours.
I was introduced to Wilson's music when listening to a Prog web radio show back when "Lightbulb Sun" was released.
My esteem for him grew, when I listened to his remasters of the King Crimson classics in 5.1 surround.
Seeing and hearing him with his current lineup is just an amazing evolution of a musical master at his best.
Wilson has absorbed Crimson/Floyd/Mahavishnu Orchestra (Adam Holzman's keys), and regurgitated a totally new, and involving Prog/Jazz fusion Mash up that is destined to become a classic.
I can't wait for this band's next release!
